When one owns a newly built greenhouse

As Ken my dear husband was building my huge beautiful greenhouse. He looked at me with his sweaty brow... and said.. Honey, after all this work and expense to build you this greenhouse... YOU Better Use it!!!. . Well, this being our very first growing season with it. I can say ... our greenhouse runnethover. We have a 1/4 acre garden. I grow food and flowers organically. I put up jars and jars and jars of jams and jellies and salsas and marinara sauce and pickled this and pickled that. Veggies of every kind. All produce from the garden.  Fruit was bought at local farmstand.  I also run my commercial dehydrator and make soup mixes for the cold and snowy Idaho winters. So, today as we were planting for the 4th day in a row .... he says that he was glad  he built the greenhouse. All the money we saved on nursery plants paid for the greenhouse.  The full shelves aren't so full now.. and the floor can be seen a little better today after planting the trays of plants into their new beds.  I also grew many many sunflower plants and Hollyhock plants to plant on the perimeter of our property as  To block a view of our neighbors collection of less than desired ... well .... um... garbage. Old cars dead freezers and fridge and other piles of heaped up old wood and  dead farm machinery. No fence to block the view.. so I figured I would make a flower fence .. tall Hollyhock and sunflower fence.  So, he is working on something else... and I yell him.... the flowers fence is next.. I will set them out. You dig the hole..... I will plant the plants.   I leve him with what he was working on.. then tell him they are ready for holes to be dug....He looked over at  the property perimeter... and he looked like a deer in headlights...."so many?" . ( 2 ACRE perimeter). I said....... well, I had to use that Greenhouse somehow! !!. Then he asked... Hollyhock s are a perennial ......right? Yes dear ... you wont need to replant these next year. I also grew veggies and flowers in the greenhouse for a elementary school garden... and all my cousins gardens. I WOULD SAY.... I USED THE GREENHOUSE.

Lockerhook runner rug is done!

I started this project back in November. The red white and blue colors will go nicely in the newly refinished camper. No more cold floors, which was my big motivation behind my rugmaking. This was my first rug making attempt. I found it relaxing and therapeutic to work on.... but must admit im HAPPY its done and will be placed into it's rightful home soon. Next project please......

What to do with old vases and bowls

I have acquired many vases and bowls over the years. Recently saw good reuse of these objects on Pinterest.  Making birdbaths and bird feeders makes sense. E-60000 adhesive days clear and is extremely durable. Simply stack and layer to your own liking. Making sure as you build that balance and sizes of found items all work together. Remember...these will be outside so put them somewhere safe. Not around rambunctious puppies, small children or galloping ponies. My plan is to place mine around the flower beds around the house. If they tip. They will land on soft soil. So go ahead get out your boxes of vases and bowls, platters and get a tube of E-6000 . The birds will love you for them. . If you live in colder climates..youll need to store them somewhere safe in below freezing temps.

The beginning of a Scrappy lockerhook runner

My GLAMPER runner is started and coming along nicely. Its my first lockerhook rug I've ever made. I'm finding it relaxing and addictive.  Love sitting and working on it. Its going to be a 10 foot runner so I'm wondering two things...  how long is it hoing to tske me to finish and do I have enough fabric?... will keep inquiring minds updated at the project develops.

This summer I took my very boring camper and turned it into a Glamper. With new valances, curtains , quilts and upholstry. I gave it the look of a co untry western bunk house.  I even dressed up the boring walls with jute and a embossed leather strip. Its all came together beautifully... but one thing is missing.  The floors have a white/grey linoleum and its cold to step on in the early brisk Idaho air when camping in the mountains.  I decided to make a locker hooked runner in coordinating colors. I have never ever made a rug.. so this is a first for me. I took a class and cut up all the material into strips. Im excited about making my first rug. Wish me luck.

My happy pantry

Since We grow most all of our produce, and this year our freezer is already full of our grass fed meats, I had no choice but to can everything. Ive bever used a pressure canner before, so I took a  class at The University of Idaho, a series if 5 canning classes.  My harvests have been bountuful, and now....my pantry is happy. I have pumpjins, beets a variety of salsas, Apple sauce, stewed tomatoes, pickled peppers, jams, jellies, a few different  pickles... and . Soon to add marinara sauce.  I even grew and dried my own beans. Lots of work. Hot sweaty work, but.I know everything was grown organically, no gmo,  ..no preservative or unwanted additives. Thats why I work so hard... and.... its so pretty to look at.

Quading Fun, the search in Idaho's Hemingway Butes for wild Horses.

We love quading in our lovely state of Idaho's trails. Today we decided to adventure out to the Hemmingway Butes. We started off in a beautiful canyon and ended up so high on a mountain that we could hear the whispers of  angels. . At one point we were in a big area where wild horses are known to make their home. No horses today for us, but we saw evidence that they are there. We decided to  back to see if we can find the herd. I love photography and having the opportunity to photograph wild horses would be amazing.                                Thank  goodness for trail maps because there is so much wide open spaces with trails going everywhere we could have gotten lost without the maps.
