This is the first time in my life that I have ever gone to a event and was given such abundance for free. So, as any food saver, canner would do... I got to canning Jam. Tonite I made two batches of concord Grape Jelly and one batch (not pictured) of peach jam. Tomorrow will be cobbler making for a BBQ that we are going to, then I'll dehydrate some, can some.. and eat the rest fresh. Feeling Blessed.

University of Idaho Pomology Field Day
As a Master Gardener, I was invited to volunteer at our booth at the Pomology field Day today. It was spectacular. Dr. Essie Fallahi and his team gave talks about growing fruits and irrigation as well as pest managment and disease control. There were tables and tables and tables of baskets full of many varieties of peaches, apples, plums, nectarines, grapes, pears,as well as walnuts and almonds. After the presentations were over with there were tours of the growing fields. And in all Idaho generosity, the fruits were given away. People were liading cases after cases . The team handed out large garbadge bags ... with my having a heads up that fruits would be given away, I brought my own bags. I loaded up on enough concord grapes to make two batches of grape jelly, and a ton of peaches for preserves, jams and cobbler. Not to mention enough to nibble on while fresh. I was also lucky enough to grab sone juicy nectarines. By the time I got to the appkes, they were gone.... but then I was tokd the appkes were in cold storage fir a year... this seadons apples haven't been picked just yet. So itceas a beautiful day up on a idaho hilltop, with people thst love fresh fruit. Yummy...

The farm keeps me busy
I knew when we decided
to buy land and live a homesteaders life that it meant work. I knew that I had a lot to learn in order to grow and sell organic veges and raise livestock. Weve been here in Idaho for one year now. In that year we have done so much. Learned so much about country living and living off the land as much as possible. Its nonstop work, but work that I adore. Nothing is better that stuffing your pantry with canned goods that came straight from your garden. These bread and butter pickles and Dill pickles are going to be great in the deadbif winter. Now That I've learned how to pickle.... next is how to ferment. Lacto fermentation has caught my attention. All the good enzymes and macrobiotics sound so good... well back to work. Today I'm harvesting my sweet corn and harvesting spinach seeds.

Junkin
I love Junkin, I love everything about junking.... The huge variety of junk that can be made into something beautiful. Take a old door for example. Some people would pass a old door by without a second thought. Me..... Oh no, I would buy that old door. Because it can be turned into a beautiful potting bench with shelving. I hope you will never look at a old door the same way. Make something Beautiful!

What's a little frost scare anyway?
Ohhh my goodness, we had a cols snap here in Idaho. We had a freeze warning.... Ans boy did I move into action. There was no way all my seelungs that I started from seed under growing lites were going to die on my if I could help it. So, all the gallonilk jugs that I've been saving, every extra sheet and box that I could find were used for plant protection. My Garden is 4000 square ft. It was no easy task, but each and every plant was protected. Happy to report that only one basil plant succumbed to the frost. Eveything else survived.... Whew, we dodged that bullet... Now to tell jack frost.... Don't come back until winter!!!

My first mothers day alone
Tomorrow marks a bittersweet milestone in my life. After being a mother for 30 years, raising. 5 kids, going thru all the trials And tribulations that life had for us.. tomorrow is my first mothers day without my kids living in the same state.... Funny thing is, I'm okay with it!. I actually feel liberated and free..... Without having to do the traditional lunch or dinner with the kids in wich most of the time I cooked anyway and often times bhad to break up a squabble or or patch someone up because they got hurt on a skateboard. Tomorrow is truly my day. I'm not doing any work, cooking or gardening... Which I do everyday. I've decided I'm sitting in the shade with a good book and some iced tea... And may take a nap while I'm at it too. Happy mothers day ladies... Put your feet ip too.
I’ve falling in love with Patchouli oil.
